A Natural Cure For Dry Sensitive Skin

Dry sensitive skin is one of the most annoying things a person can have to deal with. It can create uncomfortable itching and unsightly areas that only get worse if they are scratched in an attempt to relieve the irritation. On top of that, many of the things we put on to dry sensitive skin to deal with problems only make them worse. The good news is the problems can be solved once we stop abusing our skin and give it the care it really needs.

However, in their search for relief, people do things that make the problems worse. Scratching is an obvious example. It is very hard to resist scratching your skin if you are being driven to distraction by non-stop itching! But beyond involuntary scratching, the products we use to try and improve our skin can often make it worse.

My experience has been that dry sensitive skin is mainly caused by environmental factors that we can control, rather than by internal factors, such as genes, that we cannot do much about. And that is very good news.

There are 80,000 man-made chemicals in our environment. They are so much a part of our daily lives that we have come to take them for granted. However, their safety has not been established, not even those that are put into skin care products. If your skin is reacting to them, you will find yourself very uncomfortable, without knowing why.

For instance, manufacturers use sodium laurel or lauryl sulphate (SLS) to make soaps and shampoos that really cut grease and give us a “clean” feeling. SLS is used in animal testing labs to create skin irritation; it is used to clean oil deposits from garage floors. If you are using regular commercial soaps and shampoos, there are many chemicals in them, like SLS, that are harsh in their effect, but are selected because they give a temporary impression of benefit. The “fragrances” in many products fall into the same category. These products are packaged and marketed as though they were the gentlest, most nourishing things you could pamper your skin with. They are not! Your dry sensitive skin may, in fact, be the proof of it.

My number one recommendation is that you give your skin a chance to heal itself by liberating it from the attacks of harmful chemicals in your skin care products. Set them aside for a month or two while you try something different.

Consider switching to soap, toner, and moisturizers made from organic, plant-based oils and emollients. They protect, nourish, and moisturize the skin, without destroying its natural resources. Organic oils derived from plants bring rich nutrients to your skin. They can smooth, soothe, and moisturize your skin, leaving it balanced and healthy, without eruptions and flare-ups. They are natural cures for dry sensitive skin.

Often, our skin becomes sensitive because, frankly, we neglect it. That’s why it is so important to have a skincare routine that is easy to follow – every day counts! I recommend just 4 products – a moisturizing cleanser , an all natural facial toner (alcohol-free), an organic moisturizer and a natural exfoliant.

There is no need to use tons of products on your face. In fact, the fewer you use, the better. The key is to switch out of low-quality, synthetic products (no matter how seductively they are packaged) into natural, organic alternatives. That is how you can experience your own natural cure for dry sensitive skin.
