Have you ever taken a vacation to the ocean and noticed that your skin’s appearance improved? So did Clarisea’s founder, Alison Carton. No matter what acne regimen she tried, her skin wouldn’t stay clear, until she took a month-long trip to the ocean. The salts in the water made a vast improvement in her skin, so the idea of recreating this skin purifying treatment at home was born.
I had exactly the same experience in the Dead Sea. It’s how I came to create my natural exfoliant.

The reason why it’s important to wash your skin in the morning is because while you sleep at night, your skin is in repair mode and will secrete toxins and sebum which can prevent your daytime products from working most effectively
It’s really important, though, to use a moisturizing cleanser so that you avoid drying out your skin.

While most of us remember to use our night creams and day creams, we may not always remember to wash our hands before sticking our grubby little fingers in the jars. Extra germs and bacteria are not what we want on our faces.
Yes. That’s one of the main reasons we need preservatives in our products. They reduce the contamination we introduce ourselves with our fingers.

Last year’s EWG sunscreen report created quite a ruckus and got a lot of media attention. In my opinion it also created a lot of unnecessary stress, worry, and aggravation particularly for parents who wanted to make sure that their children were properly protected from the sun. Perhaps what bothered me the most wasn’t the debate about which sunscreens were best because I actually don’t think all sunscreens are created equal, but the lack of insight and the blind following that many people engaged in after reading (or just hearing) about the EWG report.
The Environmental Working Group, and their friends in the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics have lofty goals. Who could disagree with them? However, their commitment to fact-based analysis of the issues appears to be lacking, which is a major disappointment. I’m not sure we should take their scare stories too seriously. I am a strong proponent of organic products because I find them better that synthetic alternatives, not because I’m afraid of “chemicals”. What product isn’t made up of chemicals?

I have been jouicing every morning since I received my Breville Juicer. I must say that I LOVE this thing! Its so fast and easy to make fresh fruit and veggie juices and clean-up is a breeze.
I use a Champion Juicer. Definitely some clean-up involved. Here’s an alternative that might be more convenient.

The cosmetics industry sells women and even men a lot of nonsense in a bottle,” she said. “I know organics are healthy and I know what it does for the skin. It’s about putting the client and their needs first.

Published in the April edition of the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, the new Italian pilot study found a 66.7 percent mean reduction in acne lesions in patients treated with a resveratrol gel.
A 66.7% reduction in acne lesions is impressive, no? Worth trying, for sure, if you have acne.

The over-regulation of the cosmetic industry that has been proposed in various legislation that we have fought on a State and National level is exactly the kind of “just plain dumb” regulation that would fall under this Executive Order. I’ve asked Donna Maria to allow me to share her post on Essential U because I think it is good news. What do you think?
Obama’s Executive Order To Eliminate Absurd And Unnecessary Paperwork, “Just Plain Dumb” Regulations :: by Donna Maria Coles Johnson of Indie Business.
Here’s a post for anyone interested in the safety of cosmetic and personal care products. The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics is promoting “just plain dumb” regulations because:L 1) its analysis of the problem it is seeking to solve is not driven by science or facts and 2) its proposed solution is heavy-handed, expensive and does not address the larger problem that we have of unhealthy chemicals in our environment. Here’s more on cosmetic safety. Check out the rest of the Essential U post at the above link.

Tipu’s Chai. I call this organic, fair-trade chai a “Goldilocks” drink: not too sweet, not too spicy, and just right. The recipe was passed down to founder Bipin Patel from his grandmother in India, so it’s the real deal, without any sweeteners, preservatives, or lactose. A warming treat, available in concentrate, decaf, instant, and slow brew.
Interested in the original Yogi Tea recipe, as made in the yoga ashrams back before it became a “brand.” Here’s the original yogi tea recipe, with an optional beauty twist added to it.

For skin that has lost its sheen, Sue Mangapora, a registered nurse from the Skin Renewal Clinic in Flint, says exfoliation is one of the most important things a person can do during the winter.
I recommend exfoliating twice a week. I use a product that has an emollient base that carries a powdery French salt to slough off dead skin and stimulate circulation. The key is to go gently, though. Here are simple instructions on how to exfoliate your face, and how to chose the right exfoliant for dry skin. For the rest of my body, I don’t use a product. I prefer dry skin brushing.
